Grants Procedure/Policy

At The Finance Committee meeting in January an amount will be identified from which grants will be allocated for the financial year and once exhausted only emergency requests for assistance, and generally only from organisations that the Parish Council had Custodial Trustee status, will be considered.

Grant requests received in the year will be considered at the next meeting of the Finance Committee. Payment will be made from the remaining grant allocation.

Organisations requesting financial assistance will be requested to submit copies of their last year end accounts. Numbers or percentages of members that belong to an organisation and live within Boxley Parish will also be required.

Where equipment is ‘gifted’ to an organisation the parish council require that it be insured and maintained at the expense of the user

Section 137 grants must be "in the interests of or will directly benefit the area or its inhabitants, or of part of it, or of some of it." Requests from National Charities, which have a local area office, should be closely considered so that where necessary the donation can be made to the local office.

Grant01. Approved by Finance Committee13th November 2007.

It is not just the role of the council to award grants.  Where possible it actively seeks grants from other agencies to finance projects.
